2002 Buick LeSabre Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for the side impact on 2002 Buick LeSabre?
A: Start the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS) replacement process by turning off the Ignition Switch because air bag deployment could occur during repairs. The first repair step includes a system disable followed by complete front seat movement. Detach the connector position assurance (CPA) from sis harness connector and remove the sis connector from the sis before removing the center pillar trim panel. First detach the sis mounting fasteners before pulling the sis unit away from the center pillar sheet metal. Carefully position the new sis during installation so it does not sustain any breakage. Clean the mounting area while placing the sis or sism into position followed by a complete fastener tightening process to 9 n.m (80 lb in) torque. After securing the cpa to the sis harness connector reconnect this connector to the sis. Reinstall the center pillar trim and move the seat back into its starting position while you enable the sir system.
