2001 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front air bag sensor on 2001 Buick LeSabre?
A: The first step to changing the Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor is to turn off the SIR system and take off the front air deflector. Disconnect the CPA from the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor wiring harness connector , and after that, separate the wiring harness connector from the sensor . Make sure you use left-hand threads for the fastener on the inflatable restraint front end sensor; through the hole in the lower tie bar, loosen this fastener. Hold the sensor and slide it back and up to take it out of the key hole slot. Start by placing the sensor in the key hole slot in the lower tie bar, and then tighten the fastener to 9 N.m (80 lb in) when installing. Reattach the wiring harness connector to the sensor and put the CPA on top of the connector. When you are finished, install the front air deflector as well as enable the SIR system, keeping the sensor level with the arrow facing toward the front, and tightening all fasteners as needed to prevent accidental air bag deployment or harm.
