- Q: How to replace the positive battery cable on 2002 Buick LeSabre?A: The procedure starts with negative cable battery disconnect followed by positive cable battery disconnect from the battery. Start replacement work by removing the positive Battery Cable nut from the rear fuse block then proceed to remove each of the right side garnish molding, right front and rear carpet retainers, and right closeout insulator panel. Remove the Battery Cable retainer components starting from the rocker panel area before taking off the retaining nut which will disconnect the cable from the underhood fuse block. Reset the Battery Cable grommet from the cowl panel then disconnect the Battery Cable retainer from the body side rail . Pull the Battery Cable slowly from the cowl panel opening into the outside of the vehicle. The Battery Cable installation requires workers to slide its cable through the cowl panel opening until the cable grommet seats when pulling the cable into the engine compartment. Begin by placing the Battery Cable retainer onto the body side rail and then hook the cable to the under hood electrical center before installing and tightening its nut to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Position the Battery Cable next to the rocker panel before attaching cable retainers then install right closeout insulator panel and right front and rear carpet retainers before putting on right side garnish molding. The rear fuse block receives the positive Battery Cable with nut torque set to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) before applying Battery Cable to its terminal while securing with 17 n.m (13 lb ft) torque. The last step requires connecting the battery negative cable.
