2002 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front shock absorber assembly on 2002 Buick LeSabre?
A: The process of replacig strut assembly starts with removing steel bolts from the strut mount then raising the vehicle and setting it on supports. First detach the wheel and tire before disconnecting the abs front wheel speed sensor connector then removing the speed sensor bracket from the strut. The knuckle must stay attached after removing the bolts that connect the strut to the knuckle to avoid breaking the Ball Joint or wheel drive shaft. Next remove the Brake Line bracket from the left-side strut before removing both strut-to-knuckle bolts together with nuts and pulling the strut from the vehicle. Installation requires lowering the vehicle then putting the strut into position by tightening the strut mount to body bolts until they reach 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). After another vehicle lift use torque settings of 185 nm (136 ft. Lbs.) to tighten the bolts between the steering knuckle and strut. Seal the Brake Line and attaching bolt to the strut and then install the speed sensor bracket before tightening everything to 17 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). After reconnecting the abs front wheel speed electrical sensor you should re-install the tire and wheel assembly before lowering the vehicle to finish with a front wheel alignment.
