  • Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2002 Buick Park Avenue?
A: First, remove the engine cover and let off the cooling system. With the help of the hose clamp pliers (J38185), loosen and slide back the clamp that holds the inlet Radiator Hose to the Thermostat Housing, and then take the hose off the Thermostat Housing. Then to remove the Thermostat Housing; unbolt the Thermostat Housing and lift it off, and subsequently remove the Thermostat. Prepare the gasket mating surfaces, the housing, and the intake port prior to putting in the new Thermostat. Mount the Thermostat Housing, turn the Thermostat Housing, with new gasket, with the Thermostat Housing bolts and tighten it up to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Finally, reattach the inlet Radiator Hose and clamp, cool the system and attach the engine cover.
