2002 Buick Rendezvous Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2002 Buick Rendezvous?
A: The first step to replace the Heater Core is draining the cooling system. Start the process by removing the wiper module followed by disconnecting and relocating the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose and removing the air cleaner cover together with the intake tube. The first step for replacing the Heater Core is to detach the throttle and cruise control cables from their mounting bracket to protect their housings' shape then remove the actual cables from their fixtures. First remove the transmission fluid filler tube while using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to disconnect both heater hose clamps at the Heater Core. Protecting against coolant leakage inside the car requires you to cap the Heater Core pipes at their inlet and outlet. The first step requires removal of the right and left instrument panel insulators accompanied by the center floor air outlet and heating outlet duct screws before extracting the duct from its surroundings. Begin by removing the ip harness to Heater Core cover tie strap and afterward remove screws that retain the Heater Core cover to expose it completely. The process requires extracting the Heater Core from the hvac module by first removing its retaining screw from the Heater Core pipe. Insert the Heater Core into the hvac module case then fasten the Heater Core pipe retaining clamp screw to 0.9 n.m torque specification (8 lb in). Put back the Heater Core cover together with its screws which need to be tightened to meet identical specification. After reattaching the heater outlet duct with its screws install the ip harness on the Heater Core cover tie strap followed by the center floor air outlet and left and right instrument panel insulators and heater hoses into the Heater Core. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) should be used to fasten the heater hose clamps as part of the replacement process which includes reinstalling the transmission fluid filler tube and air cleaner cover and intake hose before connecting the throttle and cruise control cables to the tbi mounting bracket. The Brake Booster Vacuum Hose gets reconnection after the wiper module installation and the coolant filling completes the repair process.
