    A: The A/C accumulator replacement starts by using the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) to recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. The installation process starts by taking out the condenser before proceeding to disconnect the upper bracket bolts and lower mounting bolts of the A/C accumulator. The removal process requires discarding the sealing washers which were used on the A/C accumulator. The specified quantity of PAG oil needs to be added directly to the new A/C accumulator before installation. The sealing surfaces on both A/C line and condenser fittings should get cleaned with a lint-free dry cloth before installing flat washer type seals which need no lubrication. You should first connect the A/C accumulator to the condenser then insert new sealing washers and install the lower mounting bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in) before tightening them. Reinstall the condenser and evacuate and recharge the A/C system after which conduct a leak test on the component fittings with the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
