2003 Buick Rendezvous Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator on 2003 Buick Rendezvous?
A: The procedure to change the A/C accumulator demands initial refrigerant recovery from the system followed by vehicle elevation before support. First remove both fasteners that secure the air baffle and then take out the air baffle piece. The A/C accumulator requires removal from the evaporator tube by loosening its flare nuts while simultaneously cap or tape sealing the open inlet tubes. Discard the O-rings. After tape or cap removal from evaporator tubes begin installing new O-rings onto both ends of the tubes while lubricating them. Install the A/C accumulator to the evaporator inlet tube with the arrow directed toward the evaporator while gently pushing the accumulator until it reaches full contact with ferrules to properly position the O-rings. Connect the flare nuts by tightening them to 15 N.m torque (11 lb ft). Fasten the air baffle by installing bolts which require a torque setting of 20 N.m (15 lb ft). First lower the car and proceed by evacuating and recharging the A/C system. The component fittings need a leak test with the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
