2003 Buick Rendezvous Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in the HVAC system on 2003 Buick Rendezvous?
A: The hvac condenser replacement process starts with collecting refrigerant chemicals and draining the cool-down system liquid. First detach cooling fans and cooling Fan Shroud while using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to relocate the Radiator outlet hose clamp at the water pump housing before separating the Radiator outlet hose from the water pump housing. After clamping down the Radiator outlet hose at the water pump housing with the hose clamp pliers you can separate the hose from both these locations. Start by removing the lower toc line from the Radiator and unscrewing the a/c discharge hose nut from the condenser block and then disconnect the a/c discharge hose and immediately cover the opening to stop contaminants from entering the system. Next move to remove the evaporator inlet tube bolt before disconnecting the evaporator inlet tube. Immediately cap or tape it off to prevent contamination. The Radiator-condenser assembly must be removed first allowing detachment of condenser tube clip bolt and clip before the condenser mounting bolts detach the condenser from the Radiator. Remove the receiver dehydrator upper bracket bolt followed by its lower mounting bolts to disconnect the receiver dehydrator from the condenser and throw away the sealing washers. Add pag oil to the condenser as directed before installing new sealing washers onto the receiver dehydrator and connecting it to the condenser using lower mounting bolts at 6 n.m (53 lb in). After installing the upper bracket bolt at 6 n.m (53 lb in) torque setting apply the condenser Radiator connection while tightening the mounting bolts to 6 n.m (53 lb in). Install the condenser tube clamp with its bolt and torque it to 2.5 n.m (22 lb in) afterward install the Radiator and condenser unit. After removing caps and tape from evaporator inlet tube and a/c discharge hose put new sealing washers on each fitting and install them. First secure the evaporator inlet tube and bolt to the condenser block with 16 n.m (12 lb ft) torque before attaching the a/c discharge hose and final tightening with 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The toc line needs installation to link the Radiator while the other hose connects directly to the Radiator for use. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) helps reposition the Radiator outlet hose clamp before attaching the hose to the water pump housing where it can be clamped into place using the same tool. Finish the repair by reattaching the cooling fans to their shroud then performing system filling procedures followed by evacuation and recharge of the a/c system before testing all connections with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
