• Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in the HVAC System for Suction Hose on 2003 Buick Rendezvous?

  A: The first step to replace a suction hose in hvac system maintenance requires users to disconnect the negative Battery Cable and extract refrigerant from the a/c system. Support the car after a lift and remove air baffle fasteners while taking out the air baffle piece. The evaporator outlet tube requires immediate ensuring the top since you detach it from the suction hose. At this point, use tape or cap the outlet tube to stop system contamination. First disconnect the a/c compressor electrical connector followed by the engine harness electrical connector above the a/c compressor unit and then position the wiring harness to the side. Break the compressor suction nut to remove the suction hose which will be disconnected from the compressor while capping or taping the compressor suction port. Drop the vehicle and relax the right hand strut bolt that supports the engine mount from the engine side. To remove the suction hose attached to the a/c compressor the upper radiator support bracket brace bolts must be removed first so the bracket and strut can be pulled backwards while discarding the sealing washers. First install a new sealing washer onto the compressor end of the suction hose after which you should position the engine mount strut bracket against the upper radiator support before tightening the right hand engine mount strut bracket brace bolts to 28 n.m (21 lb ft). Raise the car until suitable height and disconnect the tape or cap from the suction port. At this point tighten the right hand engine strut mount nuts to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). Screw the suction hose to the compressor nut before tightening it to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). You should install a new sealing washer on the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube fitting following engine harness electrical connector and a/c compressor electrical connector reinstallation. Install the suction hose on the evaporator outlet tube fitting by tightening the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube bolt to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Put back the air baffle followed by securing its bolts to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). First clear the air from the system while lowering the vehicle then recharge it and inspect fittings with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) before reinstalling the Battery Cable.
