  A: A proper repair or service process for the flex plate starts with taking out the transaxle assembly but always discard the existing Flywheel bolts. Proceed to take out the 8 mounting bolts and afterward remove the Flywheel together with the reinforcement. After cleaning the engine Flywheel you should inspect it before placing both elements onto the Crankshaft. Sealant gm p/n 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent should be applied to all new Flywheel mounting bolts. Use 8 new mounting bolts and tighten them to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) during the first tightening sequence. The j 36660-a torque/angle meter should be used to tighten bolts a further 50° during the last tightening sequence. Finally, reinstall the transaxle assembly.
