2001 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the engine flywheel on 2001 Cadillac DeVille?
A: Service and repair operations on the engine Flywheel require first removing the transaxle assembly while leaving out the usage of original Flywheel bolts. You must remove the eight mounting bolts before extracting the Flywheel together with its reinforcement. Inspection along with cleaning must be completed before adding the engine Flywheel to the installation process. Place the Flywheel with reinforcement on the Crankshaft before applying gm p/n 12346004 or equivalent sealant on new Flywheel mounting bolts. Fitting new bolts along the eight mounting points requires torque up to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) for the first tightening sequence. The torque/angle meter (J 36660-A) should be used to perform a second tightening of the bolts at 50° on their angle. Finally, reinstall the transaxle assembly.
