- Q: How to replace the radiator on 2002 Cadillac DeVille?A: The first step to replace the Radiator consists of fan removal. You should separate the outlet Radiator Hose from the Radiator by using the heater hose clamp tool (J 37097-A). Lower the vehicle and disconnect the lower transaxle oil cooler line together with the lower engine oil cooler line from the Radiator. Keep the lower attachment points of both Radiator and condenser intact while uninstalling their two mounting bolts. Raise the condenser at an angle to let the lower feet free themselves from the Radiator mounting elements located at its front side before lifting the Radiator out. Begin Radiator installation by installing the Radiator insulators onto the frame as you place the Radiator alignment dowels directly beside them. Position the condenser carefully by letting its lower feet fall into place at the mounting features found in front of the Radiator. The special length bolts need to be used for securing the condenser to the Radiator end tanks through a torque of 13 nm (115 inch lbs.). Connect and tighten the lower engine oil cooler line to the Radiator at 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.) with an upward direction for the transaxle oil cooler line. Attach and tighten the lower transaxle oil cooler line to the Radiator by 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.). The outlet Radiator Hose will be secured to the Radiator with the heater hose clamp tool (J 37097-A) while reinstalling the cooling fans.
