Begin Thermostat replacement by draining part of the cooling system while removing the air cleaner assembly. Separate the radiator outlet hose from the Thermostat Housing by using hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Begin by removing the bolts that fix the Thermostat Housing to the water pump inlet to extract both the Thermostat and its gasket from the water pump housing. Place the new gasket and Thermostat inside the water pump housing before reattaching the Thermostat Housing by tightening its bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to reinstall the radiator outlet hose to the Thermostat Housing before reinstalling the air cleaner assembly followed by filling the cooling system.
