How to replace the thermostat on 2001 Cadillac DeVille?

The first step for Thermostat replacement includes draining part of the cooling system and taking out the air cleaner assembly. Theraputic hose clamp pliers j 38185 are required for removing the radiator outlet hose from the Thermostat Housing. You must remove the Thermostat Housing bolts which secure the water pump inlet before extracting the Thermostat gasket from the water pump housing. Install the Thermostat and new gasket into the water pump housing before reinstalling the Thermostat Housing and tightening bolts at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to reattach the radiator outlet hose to the Thermostat Housing and then replace the air cleaner assembly and finish by filling the cooling system.
