How to replace the drive belt on 2001 Cadillac DeVille?

The replacement process for drive belts begins by taking out the auxiliary Drive Belt when present. A 1/2 inch drive extension lets you release tension on the belt drive tensioner while you pull off the Drive Belt from the Power Steering Pump. After that you should carefully push the tensioner back to its original position before taking off the belt. Start by guiding the new Drive Belt into all the pulleys apart from the Power Steering Pump and Drive Belt tensioner. A 1/2 inch drive extension should be used to depress the tensioner as the belt moves toward the tensioner wheel. First finish routing around all pulleys while the tension is active before the tensioner returns slowly to normal to exact tension on the Drive Belt. Check belt routing alignment right after installation and reinstall the auxiliary Drive Belt if present while inspecting engine accessories and belts through engine start operation.
