How to service and repair the drive belt on 2000 Cadillac DeVille?

Service technicians must first use a 1/2 inch drive extension with the belt drive tensioner to release the belt tension before repair work. The Power Steering Pump Drive Belt requires removal before slowly rotating the tensioner to its starting position. Place the Drive Belt through all the pulleys apart from the Power Steering Pump and the Drive Belt tensioner when installing. A 1/2 inch drive extension goes into the Drive Belt tensioner after which you push down on the tensioner to enable feeding the belt through the wheel. When applying tension install the belt through all pulleys to secure its position in all specified areas. While manually guiding the tensioner you should return it step by step to ensure proper tension on the Drive Belt. Check that the belt follows correct paths during installation before starting the engine to verify proper accessory and belt performance.
