Parts drainage and air cleaner disassembly should be your first steps before commencing Thermostat replacement. You will need the hose clamp pliers (J38185) to separate the radiator outlet hose from the Thermostat Housing. The procedure requires removal of the housing bolts which attach to the water pump inlet alongside the extraction of the Thermostat with its gasket from the water pump housing. Install the new gasket with Thermostat into the water pump housing before installing the Thermostat Housing back into place while tightening bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). You should first use hose clamp pliers (J38185) to attach the radiator outlet hose to the Thermostat Housing followed by reinstalling the air cleaner assembly and completing the cooling system refill process.

Begin substituting the engine coolant Thermostat by removing the air cleaner first. Drain the cooling system after positioning the hose clamp at the Thermostat Housing. You may use the vac-n-fill or static fill arrangements for this step. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) help redirect the radiator outlet hose clamp at the Thermostat Housing before extracting the radiator outlet hose from that location. Begin by uninstalling the Thermostat Housing bolts before extracting the Thermostat Housing, Thermostat and gasket from the water pump housing which requires discarding the previous Thermostat Housing gasket. The replacement process starts with installing the new Thermostat Housing gasket into the water pump housing before putting in the Thermostat. Receiver the Thermostat Housing after bolt installation while tightening the Thermostat Housing bolts to a torque level of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to secure the radiator outlet hose at its mounting position on the Thermostat Housing. The last step involves filling the cooling system after reinstallation of the air cleaner.

Start the engine coolant Thermostat (LY7 - Gas, 6 CYL, 3.6L, SFI, V6, Alum) replacement by draining the cooling system partially with cooling system draining and filling (Static Fill) (GE 47716). Separating the upper and lower intake manifolds should be avoided during maintenance. Proceed by taking out both the upper and lower intake manifolds. Begin by disconnecting the surge tank hose from the Thermostat followed by removing a Thermostat housing bolt from the coolant pipe and an upper bolt from the same pipe. Disassemble the coolant inlet pipe and Thermostat by removing the Thermostat bolts before extracting the Thermostat which requires discarding the Thermostat seal. Place the new Thermostat with its fresh seal onto the installation site; then torque the Thermostat bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in) tension. After installing the new coolant pipe seal and fasteners 2 and 7 you should resume connecting the surge tank hose to the Thermostat. Install the upper Intake Manifold with the lower Intake Manifold after completing the cooling system filling according to cooling system draining and filling (Static Fill) (GE 47716).

To replace engine coolant Thermostat start on (LY7 -Gas, 6 Cylinder, 3.6L, SFI, V6) - partially drained the cooling system using the ge 47716-vac n fill, coolant re fill tool or by use of static fill. It is imperative not to separate the upper and lower intake manifolds. Then, take off the upper Intake Manifold and the lower Intake Manifold. Remove the hose for the surge tank from the Thermostat and remove the bolt for the coolant pipe/Thermostat housing and the bolt for the upper bolt . Unhook the coolant inlet pipe from the Thermostat, then the Thermostat bolts and finally remove the Thermostat by disposing the seal in the Thermostat. For installation, mount the new Thermostat with a new Thermostat seal and tighten the Thermostat bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Replace and tighten the coolant pipe with its new seal and fasteners (2 and 7). Putting back the lower Intake Manifold into place, then reconnect the surge tank hose to the Thermostat. Lastly, top up the cooling system using the ge 47716-vac n. Fill coolant refill tool or the static fill method.

Replacing an engine coolant Thermostat (LC3) requires initial draining of the cooling system through the cooling system draining and filling (GE 47716). Start by uninstalling the air cleaner assembly followed by disconnecting the Radiator Hose from the Thermostat Housing then separating the heater hose from the Thermostat Housing. Use a socket wrench to remove the Thermostat Housing bolts so you can pull away the Thermostat Housing unit with its incorporated Thermostat from the water housing. First remove the Thermostat while throwing away its seal ring then take it out of the Thermostat Housing. Expertly clean the surfaces on both the Thermostat Housing and water housing before placing the Thermostat into its housing then adding a new seal onto the Thermostat Housing. Tighten the Thermostat Housing bolts to 89 lb in by using a torque wrench when setting the Thermostat Housing in place with both the Thermostat and seal . Restore connection between the heater hose and Radiator Hose to the Thermostat Housing before reinstalling the air cleaner assembly. According to the cooling system draining and filling (GE 47716) procedure, complete the cooling system filling process.

To replace the l26/3.8l engine coolant Thermostat, commence from removing the intake manifold cover. Sometimes flushing the engines when they go through deep cooling after a long journey. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to move hose clamp to the Thermostat Housing and pull the radiator inlet hose free of the Thermostat Housing. Then remove the Thermostat Housing bolts and the housing with the Thermostat after it. Check and clean the Thermostat Housing mating surfaces. For installation, fit the new Thermostat in its place, and install the Thermostat Housing and bolts with its torque to be 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Replace the radiator inlet hose in the Thermostat Housing after putting on the spray can of liquid pressure connection for the radiator, then secure the hose clamp with the hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Lastly, fill with the cooling system and re-install the intake manifold cover.

Place the new thermostat, install the thermostat housing and bolts, and tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

Remove the air cleaner outlet duct, followed by the radiator hose and heater hose from the thermostat housing.

Fill the cooling system and reinstall the intake manifold cover.

Use the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) to reposition the radiator outlet hose clamp at the thermostat housing.

Place a new thermostat housing gasket into the water pump housing.

Reinstall the air cleaner assembly, and finally, fill the cooling system.

Use the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) to detach the radiator outlet hose from the thermostat housing.

Reconnect the radiator outlet hose to the thermostat housing using the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185).

Place the new gasket and thermostat into the water pump housing, then reinstall the thermostat housing and secure it with the bolts, tightening them to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).

Clean all sealing surfaces.

Place the new gasket and thermostat into the water pump housing, then reinstall the thermostat housing and secure it with the thermostat housing bolts, tightening them to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).

Follow with the thermostat housing.

Place the new thermostat with a new thermostat seal, ensuring the correct fasteners are used in their designated locations.

Install the coolant pipe with a NEW seal and fasteners, reconnect the surge tank hose to the thermostat, and finally, reinstall the upper intake manifold with the lower intake manifold.

Take out the thermostat housing bolts and remove the thermostat housing along with the thermostat from the water housing.

Reinstall the coolant pipe with a NEW seal and fasteners (2 and 7), reconnect the surge tank hose to the thermostat.

Place the new thermostat with a new thermostat seal, then install and tighten the thermostat bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

Reinstall the thermostat housing.

Reinstall the thermostat housing.

Take out the thermostat housing bolts and remove the thermostat housing along with the thermostat from the water housing.

Reconnect the heater hose and the radiator hose to the thermostat housing.

Clean the sealing surfaces of both the thermostat housing and water housing.

Remove the coolant pipe/thermostat housing bolt and the coolant pipe upper bolt.

Remove the thermostat bolts and take out the thermostat, discarding the thermostat seal.

Use the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) to reposition the radiator outlet hose clamp at the thermostat housing, then remove the radiator outlet hose.
