- Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2007 Cadillac DTS?A: In changing to the Thermostat first, remove the air cleaner and drain from the cooling system. Repositioning the radiator outlet hose clamp in place at the Thermostat Housing, follow this by taking out the radiator outlet hose from the Thermostat Housing using hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Then, unscrew the Thermostat Housing bolts and pull off the Thermostat Housing, Thermostat, and gasket from the water pump housing, dispose of the old Thermostat Housing gasket. For installation, a new Thermostat Housing gasket should be inserted in the water pump housing, after that insert the Thermostat and then the Thermostat Housing is installed. Install the Thermostat Housing bolts and fasten them to the 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reattach your radiator outlet hose to the Thermostat Housing and use the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) while positioning your radiator outlet hose clamp at the Thermostat Housing. Last, fill the cooling system and attach the air cleaner again.
