How to replace the thermostat on 2001 Cadillac Eldorado?

Start Thermostat replacement by partially draining the cooling system while removing the air cleaner assembly. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) should be used to disconnect the radiator outlet hose from the Thermostat Housing. Beginning with the Thermostat Housing bolts on the water pump inlet you will remove the bolts along with the Thermostat and gasket from the water pump housing. After placing the new gasket and Thermostat inside the water pump housing users must reinstall the Thermostat Housing by securing its bolts at 10 nm (89 inch lbs. Torque). Insert the radiator outlet hose onto the Thermostat Housing using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) until ready to reinstall the air cleaner assembly and complete the cooling system fill.
