A partial drain of the cooling system needs to occur initially before beginning Thermostat servicing. The next step is to remove the assembly for the air cleaner. Use hose clamp pliers j 38185 to loosen the clamp so you can extract the outlet Radiator Hose from the Thermostat Housing. Begin by disconnecting the bolts which secure the Thermostat Housing to the water pump inlet before extracting the Thermostat and its gasket from the water pump housing. After inserting the new gasket and Thermostat into the water pump housing you can proceed by installing the Thermostat Housing. Fasten the Thermostat Housing bolts until they reach 10 nm of torque (89 inch lbs). Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to join the outlet Radiator Hose to the Thermostat Housing before reattaching the air cleaner assembly while filling the cooling system.
