  A: Start with the air cleaner removal before replacing the engine coolant Thermostat. Remove engine coolant by using vac-n-fill technology or the static fill technique. With hose clamp pliers (J 38185) you must readjust the clamp located at the Thermostat Housing before removing the radiator outlet hose from its position on the Thermostat Housing. The procedure starts by removing the Thermostat Housing bolts before extracting the Thermostat Housing together with the parts comprising Thermostat and gasket which go into the water pump housing where you discard the previous Thermostat Housing gasket. Proceed with the following installation steps: position the new Thermostat Housing gasket within the water pump housing; add the Thermostat; eventually install the Thermostat Housing. Fasten the Thermostat Housing bolts until torque reaches 10 nm (89 lb in). Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to position the radiator outlet hose clamp around the Thermostat Housing. After either using the vac-n-fill or static fill methods to fill the cooling system you should install the air cleaner.
