How to replace the thermostat (LY7) on 2007 Cadillac STS?

The Thermostat replacement process (LY7) starts with draining a portion of the cooling system without separating upper or lower Intake Manifold components. First remove both upper and lower intake manifolds before disconnecting the surge tank hose attached to the Thermostat. The next step involves removal of the coolant pipe/Thermostat housing bolt and coolant pipe upper bolt before taking out the coolant inlet pipe from the Thermostat. Use a wrench to remove the Thermostat bolts then extract the Thermostat by discarding its attendant seal. After installing the new Thermostat insert a new Thermostat seal then use a torque wrench to tighten the Thermostat bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reinstallation starts by attaching the coolant pipe with new fasteners and seals (2 and 7). This is followed by securing the surge tank hose to the Thermostat before installing the upper and lower intake manifolds for cooling system filling.
