    Q:
How to replace the engine coolant thermostat (LC3 - 8 Cyl, 4.4L, SC, DOHC) on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Technical procedure ge 47716 - cooling system draining and filling (Static Fill) - must be followed for draining the cooling system before beginning engine coolant Thermostat replacement on lc3 - 8 cyl, 4.4l, sc, dohc. The first step involves removing the air cleaner assembly before unhooking the Radiator Hose from the Thermostat Housing followed by disconnecting the heater hose from the same housing. Start by removing the Thermostat Housing bolts and removing the Thermostat Housing together with its Thermostat from the water housing. First remove the discard ring seal before taking out the Thermostat from within the Thermostat Housing. Once the housing sealing surfaces have been cleaned we should position the Thermostat inside the housing before placing a new seal onto the Thermostat Housing. After installing the water housing Thermostat with its new seal onto the Thermostat Housing you should secure down the bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). After installing a new sealing disc on the Thermostat Housing reconnect the heater hose and Radiator Hose before reinstalling the air cleaner assembly. The cooling system requires completion with cooling system draining and filling (Static Fill) according to ge 47716.
