Engine coolant Thermostat (LF1/LLT) replacement requires starting with the process of cooling system draining and filling (GE 47716) to partially empty the cooling system. Start by uninstalling the upper Intake Manifold before disconnecting the surge tank outlet pipe which runs to the Thermostat. Begin the procedure by removing the coolant pipe/Thermostat housing bolt then uninstall the coolant pipe upper bolt. Finish by removing the coolant inlet pipe from the Thermostat. The Thermostat bolts must be removed to extract the Thermostat while also throwing away the Thermostat seal. New Thermostat installation requires mounting the device with new Thermostat seal and applying torque to the Thermostat bolts until they achieve 10 nm (89 lb in) of resistance. Fitting a new seal along both fasteners on the coolant pipe is followed by attaching the surge tank outlet pipe to the Thermostat. Reinstall the upper Intake Manifold before performing cooling system draining and filling procedure (GE 47716) to refuel the cooling system.
