How to replace the engine coolant thermostat (LF1/LLT) on 2010 Cadillac STS?

In order to change the engine coolant thermostat, one should start by draining the cooling system partially. Take out the upper intake manifold and unscrew the surge tank outlet pipe. Take off the thermostat and the seal. Install the new thermostat using a new seal, tighten the bolts and reconnect the elements and refill the cooling system.
