How to replace the Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing (LY7) on 2007 Cadillac STS?

The first step when changing the engine coolant Thermostat housing (LY7) involves disconnecting the heater hoses from the Heater Core. Apply gasket remover (J 28410) on the Thermostat housing bolts to obtain proper bolt removal after soaking the Thermostat with it. Remove the Thermostat housing assembly and related heater pipes, hoses and bolts. The sealing areas require cleaning using a plastic gasket scraper as gasket remover (J 28410) or its equivalent tool. After mounting heater pipes and hoses onto the Thermostat housing you should add a new gasket before tightening Thermostat housing bolts. Tighten the Thermostat housing bolts to 20 n.m (15 lb ft) after securing the heater pipes and heater hoses together with gasket and bolts. You should finish by mounting the Thermostat unit and connecting both heater hoses back to the Heater Core.
