Before replacing the Thermostat (RPO L26) start by unfastening the intake manifold cover and draining part of the cooling system fluid. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) help you move the clamp at the Thermostat Housing before you remove the radiator inlet hose from this location. The first step involves removing Thermostat Housing bolts followed by removing the housing itself before you access the Thermostat. Examining along with cleaning the mating surfaces of the Thermostat Housing should be done before adding a new Thermostat. Fasten the Thermostat bolts into place with 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque setting. Reposition the radiator inlet hose by fixing it to the Thermostat Housing while using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to maintain proper hose clamp positioning at the Thermostat Housing. After filling the cooling system you should reinstall the intake manifold cover.
