How to replace the rear liftgate hinge on 2002 Cadillac Eldorado?

With support from a helper detach the entire lid assembly before starting the work. First detach the rear compartment components before removing the rear shelf trim. Pull off the extension pin and hinge strap retaining pin after you take them out. Then dispose of the pin. Take out the hinge strap from its location. First put on the new hinge strap followed by installing its new retaining pin. Install the two parts in the correct order: rear shelf trim first and extension spring second. Reinstall the parts of the back compartment. With support install the lid assembly first while making sure to turn the rear lid into its proper alignment.
