2002 Cadillac Escalade Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on 2002 Cadillac Escalade?
A: You should begin by removing the valve Rocker Arm cover while separating the valve rocker arms and pushrods along with the pivot support which need to be placed in a rack to maintain proper installation placement. The operation begins with bolt removal from the valve Rocker Arm then moves to the removal of rocker arms and pivot support elements and pushrods. Clean all valve rocker arms and pushrods to prepare them for oil lubrication which should also coat both the flange of valve Rocker Arm bolts and each element. Position the valve Rocker Arm pivot support in place while checking that pushrods correctly connect to the valve lifter sockets before placing the pushrods into the Rocker Arm ends but avoid torquing the bolts. Fitting the rocker arms along with their bolts must follow Crankshaft rotation until the number one Piston reaches the compression stroke tdc position with the Crankshaft sprocket key resting at the 1:30 mark. Based on this engine position, tighten the valve Rocker Arm bolts for cylinders 1, 2, 7, and 8 exhaust to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) and for cylinders 1, 3, 4, and 5 intake to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Tighten the bolt attaching the valve rocker arms which service exhaust cylinders 3, 4, 5, 6 to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) then secure the intake arm bolts 2, 6, 7, 8 to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) as the Crankshaft rotates by 360 degrees. The last procedure involves valve Rocker Arm cover installation.
