    Q:
How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on Cadillac Escalade ESV? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before beginning the replacement of valve Rocker Arm and push rods start by taking out the Rocker Arm cover. The style of engine firing begins at cylinder 1 then progresses through 8 and reaches 7 before moving to 2 and advancing to 6 and stopping at 5 before ultimately arriving at 4 and terminating at 3. This process operates from the left side banks with groups 1, 3, 5, and 7. The next step should involve removing the first cylinder Spark Plug and arranging rocker arms pushrods along with the pivot support in a rack for future reinstallation at their original positions. Begin the process by removing the Rocker Arm bolts, rocker arms along with Rocker Arm pivot support and pushrods. Rocker Arm and pushrod inspection should be followed by necessary cleaning procedures. Application of clean engine oil functions both to lubricate the rocker arms and pushrods and the flange of the Rocker Arm bolts. Position first the Rocker Arm pivot support before placing the pushrods into their correct position in the valve lifter sockets and pushrods in the rocker arms and check for proper seating without tightening any bolts. Follow this Crankshaft rotation step until the number one Piston reaches top dead center of its compression movement where it should be off the center of lift for rocker arms number one. Install the rocker arms and bolts at this position. Install the Rocker Arm bolts on cylinders 1 and 2 and 7 and 8 exhaust valves with 30 n.m (22 lb ft) torque while installing bolts on cylinders 1 and 3 and 4 and 5 intake valves to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Follow this step by rotating the Crankshaft 360 degrees while tightening intake Rocker Arm bolts for cylinders 3, 4, 5, 6 exhaust valves and exhaust bolts for cylinders 2, 6, 7, 8 to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Place back both the number one cylinder Spark Plug along with the Rocker Arm cover.

    Q:
How to replace the valve rocker arm and valve lash adjuster on Buick Rainier? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should start replacing the valve Rocker Arm and valve Lash Adjuster by taking out the Camshaft cover as well as the exhaust and intake sprocket bolts. The Camshaft sprocket holding tool (J 44222) needs installation on the Cylinder Head with its horizontal bolts inserted into the Camshaft sprockets to sustain chain tension while keeping Timing Chain components intact. Bother the sprockets and Timing Chain from the camshafts by placing the Camshaft caps in a rack for future reinstallation. Begin by taking out the Camshaft cap hardware followed by its caps and then proceed to remove the camshafts. After removal place all valve rocker arms along with valve lash adjusters in their correct locations according to the original arrangement. Detach and remove all valve rocker arms together with their associated valve lash adjusters. The installation process requires engine oil for lubricating the valve lash adjusters prior to their placement back in the original positions. The valve rocker arms receive engine oil lubrication before their installation. Install the valve rocker arms in their original positions while applying engine oil to the Camshaft journals and proceed to reinstall the camshafts. Use 12 nm (106 inch lbs.) torque when bolting the Camshaft caps onto their original locations. Proceed with placing sprockets on their respective camshafts and extract the Camshaft sprocket holding tool (J 44222). After mounting the exhaust cam actuator bolt and intake cam sprocket washer install the torque wrench to clamp the intake cam bolt at 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) twice tighten the bolt an additional 100 degrees with the torque angle meter (J 36660-A). The exhaust Camshaft actuator bolt must be fastened to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) during the initial step before adding another 135 degrees using the torque angle meter (J 36660-A) during the second step. Finally, install the Camshaft cover.

    Q:
How to Service and Repair the Rocker Arm Assembly on a Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Rocker Arm cover needs removal at the beginning step when replacing the valve Rocker Arm and push rods. Cylinder numbers run in the sequence 1, 8, 7, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3 in engine firing order and cylinders 1, 3, 5, and 7 belong to the left bank. Move Spark Plug number one from cylinder one before placing the rack with rocker arms pivot support and pushrods where you will reinstall them according to their original locations. Start by unbolted the Rocker Arm bolts then remove the rocker arms and Rocker Arm pivot support with the pushrods. The necessary inspection and cleaning procedures should be performed on rocker arms and pushrods. To install the device you must first apply clean engine oil both to the rocker arms and pushrods and then lubricate the flange on the Rocker Arm bolts. Place the pushrods into their proper location in the valve lifter sockets before placing the pushrod in the rocker arms and checking for correct placement while avoiding bolt tightening at this time. Keep to engine firing sequence when installing rocker arms together with their bolts. Run the Crankshaft to position the number one Piston at the top dead center of compression stroke while confirming the rocker arms of the number one cylinder remain off the lobe lift. Tupon the exhaust valves of cylinders 1, 2, 7 and 8 tighten the Rocker Arm bolts to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) while on cylinders 1, 3, 4 and 5 intake valves tighten the bolts to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). After rotating the Crankshaft 360 degrees complete the bolt tightening for exhaust valves in rocks 3, 4, 5 and 6 and the bolt tightening for intake valves in rocks 2, 6, 7 and 8 to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Reinstall both the number one Spark Plug along with the Rocker Arm cover.

    Q:
How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should begin by removing the valve Rocker Arm cover while separating the valve rocker arms and pushrods along with the pivot support which need to be placed in a rack to maintain proper installation placement. The operation begins with bolt removal from the valve Rocker Arm then moves to the removal of rocker arms and pivot support elements and pushrods. Clean all valve rocker arms and pushrods to prepare them for oil lubrication which should also coat both the flange of valve Rocker Arm bolts and each element. Position the valve Rocker Arm pivot support in place while checking that pushrods correctly connect to the valve lifter sockets before placing the pushrods into the Rocker Arm ends but avoid torquing the bolts. Fitting the rocker arms along with their bolts must follow Crankshaft rotation until the number one Piston reaches the compression stroke tdc position with the Crankshaft sprocket key resting at the 1:30 mark. Based on this engine position, tighten the valve Rocker Arm bolts for cylinders 1, 2, 7, and 8 exhaust to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) and for cylinders 1, 3, 4, and 5 intake to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Tighten the bolt attaching the valve rocker arms which service exhaust cylinders 3, 4, 5, 6 to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) then secure the intake arm bolts 2, 6, 7, 8 to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) as the Crankshaft rotates by 360 degrees. The last procedure involves valve Rocker Arm cover installation.

    Q:
How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on Cadillac Escalade EXT? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin valve Rocker Arm and push rod replacement by removing the Rocker Arm cover empty then arrange rocker arms pushrods and pivot support on a rack to preserve their initial setups. The Rocker Arm bolts need removal before removing each Rocker Arm and Rocker Arm pivot support and pushrods. Inspection and cleaning should proceed for the rocker arms and pushrods when needed. The valve lash exists as net build so no adjustment is needed when reinstalling the components into their original positions. Clean engine oil should be used to lubricate the rocker arms with pushrods while lubricating the bolts' flange as well. The Rocker Arm pivot support goes in along with pushrods that correctly seat within valve lifter sockets and the terminals of the rocker arms before securing the Rocker Arm bolts. When the number one Piston reaches the top dead center for compression stroke, turn the Crankshaft into a position to align its sprocket key at the 1:30 marker. The engine requires this position for tightening the Exhaust Valve bolts (30 Nm) on cylinders 1, 2, 7, and 8 while Intake Valve bolts (30 Nm) should be tightened for cylinders 1, 3, 4, and 5. The procedure requires the Crankshaft rotation by 360 degrees followed by a torque application of 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) to the rock arm bolts for cylinders 3, 4, 5, 6 exhaust valves and for cylinders 2, 6, 7, 8 intake valves. Mount the Rocker Arm cover as your step.

    Q:
How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
Starting the valve Rocker Arm and push rod replacement requires the removal of valve Rocker Arm covers first. Set a rack to hold the valve rocker arms and valve pushrods along with their supportive pivot until their original positions become ready for use. Start by uninstalling the valve Rocker Arm bolts after which you should remove the valve rocker arms and valve Rocker Arm pivot support and then pull out the pushrods. The mechanic must clean the valve rocker arms before conducting an inspection of both components. Valve lash remains at a net build during installation therefore no adjustment should be made since all components must be positioned exactly as they were before removal. Clean engine oil should be used for lubrication on valve rocker arms and pushrods with additional application on the bolt flange of the valve Rocker Arm. The valve Rocker Arm pivot support requires installation at this point where the pushrods should correctly enter the valve lifter sockets before the pushrods can be installed into the rocker arms while leaving the Rocker Arm bolts untightened for now. Attach the rockers followed by installing their bolts. The technician needs to rotate the Crankshaft while keeping the number one Piston at top dead center of the compression stroke to achieve several objectives: the cylinder number one rocker arms should be off lobe lift and the Crankshaft sprocket key needs to reach the 1:30 position with alignment marks exactly at 12 o'clock. The technician should torque the exhaust valve Rocker Arm bolts 1, 2, 7, and 8 to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) simultaneously with the intake valve Rocker Arm bolts 1, 3, 4, and 5. After rotating the Crankshaft by 360 degrees the technician must tighten exhaust valve Rocker Arm bolts 3, 4, 5, 6 together with intake valve Rocker Arm bolts 2, 6, 7, 8 at 30 n.m (22 lb ft). The installation of the valve Rocker Arm covers must complete the process.

How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on Chevrolet Express 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step of replacing valve Rocker Arm and push rods requires removing the valve Rocker Arm cover followed by placing valve rocker arms pushrods and pivot support on a rack to maintain correct installation order. Bolt removal from valve rocker arms should be followed by removal of valve rocker arms and pivot support pipes. Finally remove the pushrods from their locations. The cleaning process should precede an examination of valve rocker arms and pushrods before distributing engine oil to these components and valve Rocker Arm bolt flanges. After installing the valve Rocker Arm pivot support apply pushrods carefully into the valve lifter sockets before installing the pushrods to seat properly at the Rocker Arm ends before fastening the Rocker Arm bolts. Install the rocker arms and bolts before turning the Crankshaft to its top dead center position for compression stroke in which the first cylinder rocker arms will be off lobe lift and the Crankshaft sprocket key rests at the 1:30 position. Tighten both the exhaust and intake valve Rocker Arm bolts of cylinders 1-2-7-8 while the engine operates on firing number one until they reach torque values of 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Tighten the valve Rocker Arm bolts for cylinders 3, 4, 5, and 6 exhaust as well as for cylinders 2, 6, 7, and 8 intake to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Place and fasten the valve Rocker Arm cover as the last step.

    Q:
How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on Chevrolet SSR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Tips for valve Rocker Arm and push rod replacement start with removing the valve Rocker Arm cover next to placing all components in a rack while keeping their positions intact. First remove each bolt from the valve Rocker Arm then detach the valve rocking arms and the valve Rocker Arm pivot support before taking out the pushrods from the engine. Investigators must clean all valve rocker arms before performing inspections on these parts and the pushrods. Clean engine oil serves as the lubricant during valve Rocker Arm and pushrod installation by applying it to these parts together with valve Rocker Arm bolt flange lubrication. First install the valve Rocker Arm pivot support while verifying pushrods settle firmly in the valve lifter sockets before installing pushrods that connect to the rocker arms without bolt torque at this time. Primarily install the rocker arms as well as the bolts before rotating the Crankshaft to position number one piston at compression stroke top dead center (TDC). Do this when the cylinder number one rocker arms have no lobe lift and when the Crankshaft sprocket key sits at 1:30. Tighten all bolts to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) while the engine is at number one firing position for cylinders 1, 2, 7, and 8 exhaust bolts and cylinders 1, 3, 4, and 5 intake bolts. To complete the valve adjustment, rotate the Crankshaft 360 degrees before torquing bolts of cylinders 3, 4, 5, 6 exhaust to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) and cylinders 2, 6, 7, 8 intake to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Settle the valve Rocker Arm cover as the last step.

How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on GMC Savana 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the replacement process by taking out the valve Rocker Arm cover before positioning valve rocker arms and pushrods and pivot support support on a rack for correct placement. Remove the valve Rocker Arm bolts as well as the valve rocker arms following by the valve Rocker Arm pivot support and pushrods. The valve Rocker Arm and pushrod inspection should include cleaning followed by examination. Engine oil application to both valve rocker arms and pushrods serves as lubrication before installation. Likewise, the valve Rocker Arm bolt flanges need lubrication. The valve Rocker Arm pivot support can now be installed with pushrod alignment to valve lifter sockets then add pushed rods carefully into Rocker Arm ends before tightening the bolt at this time. Start by installing the rocker arms and bolts first and proceed to turn the Crankshaft until the number one piston reaches top dead center compression stroke positioning while rockers are off lift and the Crankshaft sprocket key rests at 1:30. Engine position number one demands bolt torque of 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) for the exhaust Rocker Arm set of cylinders 1, 2, 7, 8 while requiring the intake set of 1, 3, 4, 5 to also receive 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Turn the Crankshaft by 360 degrees before adjusting the exhaust Rocker Arm bolts for cylinders 3, 4, 5, 6 to torque at 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) followed by the intake bolts for cylinders 2, 6, 7, 8 where torque is set to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). As the last step install the valve Rocker Arm cover.

How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on GMC Yukon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Positioned first is the removal of the Rocker Arm cover as the first step to change valve rocker arms and push rods. The car engine operates through the firing sequence 1, 8, 7, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3 in which the left side bank contains cylinders 1, 3, 5 and 7. Place all rocker arms as well as pushrods and pivot support in a rack for later replacement in their factory locations after disconnecting the Spark Plug from cylinder number one. The replacement process starts with bolt removal from the rocker arms and then removal of the arms (1, 2). Next step is removing the Rocker Arm pivot support followed by the pushrods. Examine and clean the rocker arms and pushrods according to need. Before mounting the components of rocker arms and pushrods you must oil their surfaces with new engine oil while applying oil to the bolts' flange as well. First step to install the Rocker Arm pivot support is seating the pushrods correctly within the valve lifter sockets while aligning them with the ends of the rocker arms (1, 2). However, do not apply torque to the Rocker Arm bolts at this point. Install the rocker arms and bolts onto the first Piston from top dead center during compression stroke when the number one cylinder rocker arms must not be on lobe lift. The engine positioning allows you to apply 30 nm (22 lb ft) torque on exhaust valves of cylinders 1, 2, 7, 8 while tightening Intake Valve bolts of cylinders 1, 3, 4, 5 to 30 nm (22 lb ft). The procedure requires a clockwise Crankshaft rotation by 360 degrees before torquing the Exhaust Valve Rocker Arm bolts of cylinders 3, 4, 5, 6 to 30 nm (22 lb ft) and the Intake Valve Rocker Arm bolts of cylinders 2, 6, 7, 8 to 30 nm (22 lb ft). Reinstall both the number one cylinder Spark Plug along with the Rocker Arm cover into its proper place.

How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on GMC Sierra 3500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
The valve Rocker Arm and push rod replacement starts with removing the Rocker Arm cover. The motor fires from 1, 8, 7, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3 beginning with left bank cylinders 1, 3, 5, 7 first. Place all rocker arms pushrods and pivot support in a rack until reimplementing them in their original positions while removing the number one cylinder Spark Plug. First remove the Rocker Arm bolts before taking off the rocker arms together with the Rocker Arm pivot support and pushrods. You should clean the Rocker Arm components and inspect both the rocker arms and pushrods for necessary action. Before replacing all parts clean engine oil must be used to lubricate the Rocker Arm and pushrods and to coat the bolts on their Rocker Arm flanges. Position the Rocker Arm pivot support while the pushrods should fit correctly into valve lifter sockets followed by pushrod installation at the rocker arms without tightening bolts at this time. Fit the rocker arms into place along with the bolts according to the engine firing sequence. Place the Crankshaft in a position where the number one Piston reaches top dead center (TDC) compression stroke under the condition that number one cylinder rocker arms maintain zero lobe lift. The engine needs to maintain its present position for tightening the exhaust valve bolts of cylinders 1, 2, 7, 8 to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) and intake valve bolts of cylinders 1, 3, 4, 5 to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Next adjust the Crankshaft one full circle before securing the exhaust bolts of valves 3, 4, 5, and 6 to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) strength while tightening the intake bolts of cylinders 2, 6, 7, and 8 to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). The engine maintenance requires the installation of both the number one cylinder Spark Plug and the Rocker Arm cover.

How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on GMC Sierra 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process of replacing valve Rocker Arm and push rods starts with component marking then organizing and sorting the Cylinder Head components for correct placement during reinstallation. The work begins with removing the valve Rocker Arm cover after which you should proceed to remove valve Rocker Arm nuts and balls and finally all the valve rocker arms. Make sure to note that the exhaust valve pushrods exceed the length of the intake valve pushrods before removing them. To proceed with the process first remove the valve Rocker Arm studs and Pushrod guides before cleaning the valve rocker arms and pushrods for inspection. Sealant gm p/n 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) should be used on the valve Rocker Arm stud-to-cylinder head threads before installing Pushrod guides and valve Rocker Arm studs which should be tightened to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Always keep in mind that you should install the exhaust valve pushrods to their full length while installing the pushrods. The valve Rocker Arm and valve Rocker Arm ball bearing surfaces should receive lubricant gm p/n 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) before installing the valve rocker arms and balls followed by valve Rocker Arm nuts at 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.) torque while guiding the rocker arms over the valve tips. Completion of the installation process requires the installation of the valve Rocker Arm cover.

    Q:
How to replace the valve rocker arm and hydraulic valve lash adjuster on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for valve Rocker Arm and hydraulic valve Lash Adjuster replacement requires you to remove the camshaft cover. The Crankshaft rotation should continue until the open valve of the affected cylinder approaches full opening while the cam lobe completely presses down on the spring. You can install the valve spring compressor (EN-47945) on the engine Cylinder Head by placing one or two fasteners from the set in the coil fastener hole although some locations only need one fastener. Moving the engine after attaching the tool should be avoided because it can harm engine valves. The clock-wise engine rotation positions the cam on the base circle to enable the removal of the Lash Adjuster and rocker together. Check the valve Rocker Arm as well as the valve Lash Adjuster before cleaning and inspecting them. Before reinstallation add oil both to the valve Rocker Arm and inside the valve Lash Adjuster. Follow these steps for installation of the tool by rotating the engine counterclockwise toward the cam lobe depression of the spring once more. Use the valve spring compressor (EN-47945) again to remove it from the Cylinder Head while executing the procedure a second time if necessary. Finally, install the camshaft cover.

How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on GMC Sierra 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by taking out the Rocker Arm cover when replacing the valve Rocker Arm along with push rods. The engine follows 1, 8, 7, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3 firing sequence and contains cylinders 1, 3, 5, and 7 on the left bank. You should remove the number one cylinder Spark Plug followed by placing rocker arms together with pushrods and pivot support in a rack where you can store them before their original installation locations. First remove the bolts securing rocker arms and pivot support and the pushrods as well. Step in the inspection and cleaning method for rocker arms and pushrods according to their needs. Reinstallation of these components requires clean engine oil to be used for lubricating both the rocker arms and pushrods alongside the flange of the Rocker Arm bolts. The Rocker Arm pivot support gets installed first before the pushrods can enter the valve lifter sockets but not past the Rocker Arm positions and finally the pushrods must correctly fit inside the rocker arms before proceeding with bolt tightening. Install the rocker arms alongside the bolts before using a Crankshaft turner to reach tdc compression stroke with number one Piston positioned correctly while the number one cylinder rocker arms rest off the lift position. The specified torque requirement for the specified bolts should be 30 nm (22 lb ft) while the engine is positioned at this specific compression stroke. Tighten the exhaust valve bolts on rocker arms 3,4,5 and 6 to 30 nm while tightening intake valve bolts for rocks 2, 6, 7, and 8 to 30 nm. Finish the procedure by putting back the number one cylinder Spark Plug along with the Rocker Arm cover.
