2005 Chevrolet Corvette Rocker Arm Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: First remove valve Rocker Arm covers then organize valve rocker arms valve pushrods and pivot support on a rack according to their original positions. The procedure begins by removing the valve Rocker Arm bolts after which you should extract the valve rocker arms together with the valve Rocker Arm pivot support and finally separate the pushrods. Clean all parts of valve rocker arms and inspect both the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Reinstallation of components should follow their original positions since valve lash develops automatically without requiring any adjustments. Clean engine oil should be used to lubricate both valve rocker arms and pushrods while the valve Rocker Arm bolt flange needs separate lubrication. Add the pivot support of the valve rocker arms before checking if the pushrods properly enter their sockets. Then install the pushrods. Leave the Rocker Arm bolts loose before verifying proper Pushrod seating on the rocker arms. The Crankshaft needs to rotate to arrive at top dead center of compression stroke in cylinder number one where the rocker arms should be off lobe lift with sprocket key pointing at 1:30 position and sprocket alignment marks at 12 o'clock. The extra pilot hole of the Crankshaft located at the engine's rear side will appear at the 10:30 orientation. The sequential engine ignition commences at cylinder 1 followed by 8, 7, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3 according to the firing sequence. The left bank incorporates cylinders 1, 3, 5, 7 whereas the right bank incorporates cylinders 2, 4, 6, 8. Tighten the exhaust valve Rocker Arm bolts 1, 2, 7, and 8 as well as intake valve Rocker Arm bolts 1, 3, 4, and 5 to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) when the engine rests in the number one firing position. First make a 360-degree Crankshaft rotation followed by torquing all exhaust valve Rocker Arm bolts 3, 4, 5, and 6 to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) while torquing all intake valve Rocker Arm bolts 2, 6, 7, and 8 to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) the valve Rocker Arm covers need to be installed at the end of the sequence.
