  A: To remove the valve lifters, first, remove the Cylinder Head, guide bolts (211). Next, remove the guides (210) with the lifters, being sure to make a note of their installation position since the notched area should marry up to the locating of the block (210). Remove the valve lifters (209) from the guide (210) and arrange or label the components to reinstall in their original positions. In the case of reuse of valve lifters, replace them to their initial positions. In case there is a Camshaft replacement, then the valve lifters need to be changed as well. Lubricate the valve lifters (209) and the engine block valve lifter bores with fresh clean engine oil. Place the valve lifters into the lifter guides (210) to line up the flat part of the valve lifter with the flat part of the bore in the lifter guides, then force the lifter fully down into the guide bore. Replace the valve lifters (210) and guide assembly to the engine block and replace the valve lifters (211) guide bolts and then torque to 10nm (89 inch lbs). Finally, install the Cylinder Head with the help of valve lifter remover (J3049-A).
