• Q: How to replace the valve rocker arm and valve lash adjuster on 2007 GMC Envoy?

  A: Start the valve Rocker Arm and valve Lash Adjuster replacement by using en-47945 valve spring compressor (EN-47945) as the required tool. Proper replacement starts with removing the camshaft cover from the engine. Turn the Crankshaft to achieve full valve opening of the affected cylinder while the cam lobe is maximizing its spring depression. Engine designs might permit application of the tool with only one fastener through the Cylinder Head in a few specified areas. The engine Cylinder Head requires installation of en-47945 using either one or two of the supplied fasteners in the coil fastener aperture. Before engine rotation with the tool present, avoid valve damage by ensuring the Piston never contacts them. Rotation should be done to reach the cam base circle. When the cam reaches the base circle position install clockwise rotation sufficient enough to hold the spring compressed through the tool before removing the Lash Adjuster and rocker. Dismantle the valve Rocker Arm followed by the valve Lash Adjuster and cleanse and verify both elements before reinstallation. Before installation both components require oil lubrication where the valve Rocker Arm needs oil and the valve Lash Adjuster needs a fill of oil. Proceed by turning the engine wheels in an opposite direction until the lobe fully pushes down the spring once more. The en-47945 tool should be removed from the Cylinder Head then the procedure should be repeated as many times as necessary. Finally, install the camshaft cover.
