2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the valve rocker arm and push rods on 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: The valve Rocker Arm replacement requires starting with removal of the valve Rocker Arm cover. The valve rocker arms pushrods along with pivot support must be positioned in a rack to maintain correct reinstall locations. Start the replacement process by taking off the valve Rocker Arm bolts and then proceed with removing the valve rocker arms and pivot support and pushrods. Precleaning operations should be followed by Rocker Arm and pushrod inspection. Apply engine oil clearance to valve rocker arms and pushrods together with clean oil to the valve Rocker Arm bolt flange and the bolt surface that touches the rocker arms during installation. Install first the valve Rocker Arm pivot support with pushrods in correct position inside valve lifter sockets before putting in the pushrods for a final check without tightening the bolts. Start by rotating the Crankshaft until its number one piston reaches the compression stroke tdc. Place the 1:30 key position of the Crankshaft sprocket. Then install rocker arms and bolts before adjusting the Crankshaft. The valve Rocker Arm bolts for cylinders 1, 2, 7 and 8 exhaust should be tightened to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) and for cylinders 1, 3, 4 and 5 intake to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) when the engine reaches the specified position. Refer to the Crankshaft for a full 360-degree rotation while tightening the exhaust bolts for cylinders 3, 4, 5, 6 and intake bolts for 2, 6, 7 and 8 until they reach 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Place the valve Rocker Arm cover as the last step in the procedure.
