Q: How to replace the engine oil and oil filter on 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: First open the hood then remove the intake manifold sight shield before starting the engine Oil Filter replacement process. Begin by taking out the oil fill cap then elevate the vehicle onto supports. Place a drain pan beneath the Oil Pan Drain Plug before you take out the plug to completely drain the oil. Check the Drain Plug for damage before replacing it while also cleaning both the sealing surface and the Oil Pan until ready to change the Oil Pan. Reposition the Drain Plug into the hole before tightening to its proper torque. Place a suitable drain pan underneath the Oil Filter and proceed to remove the old filter while checking that the gasket remains in place. Extract the gasket from the Oil Pan when you replace the old filter. Use clean engine oil to treat your new Oil Filter gasket before you install and tighten the new filter to specifications of 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Secure the Drain Plug with 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque while removing the oil collection pan from beneath the vehicle. The vehicle should be lowered as you add new engine oil to the crankcase. Start the engine for an inspection of any oil leakage. Allow the oil to return to the pan by shutdown the engine after several minutes. Clean the end of the tube before reinstalling the oil level indicator so that the handle reaches the top of the tube. Check the oil level while the indicator tip stays down to make adjustments as needed. To finish the task reinstall the intake manifold sight shield and close the hood.
