2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the engine front timing cover on 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: When wanting to replace the engine front cover, drain the engine coolant initially. Then take off the cooling fan and shroud, drive belt, water pump, crank balancer and Power Steering Pump. Lift the vehicle and take off the Oil Pan; then lower the car. Loosen the remaining engine front cover bolts using the 7 mm socket and center bolt. Install two front cover bolts in the jack screw holes on the front cover then tighten it up equally to free the front cover from the engine. Drill out the two bolts in the front cover followed by the Oil Pump. Demarcate the front cover. Mount the j 44219 (J 44219) onto the engine and do it within 10 minutes of applying the sealer to the front cover. Coat 3mm (0.12 inch) of sealer into the trace grooves at the backside of the engine front cover, and the inner surface of the three bolt hole bosses. Set up the Oil Pump to the splines of the crankshaft sprocket and install the front cover, after which tighten the center bolt to a torque of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Remove the j 44219 (J 44219), lift the vehicle again, and install the oil-pan. Lower the vehicle and install Power Steering Pump, crankshaft balancer, water pump, drive belt finally, cooling fan and the shroud. Top the engine full with the coolant to finish the process.
