  • Q: How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring in the steering wheel module on 2002 Chevrolet Camaro?
    A: Firstly, disable the sir system so as to replace the air bag clock spring. Air bag clock spring and the Steering Wheel, then slide wire harness straps out of steering column wire harness. Next affair off the retaining ring and remove the air bag clock spring from Steering Shaft. Center the sir coil assembly and feed the connectors through the steering column system before installation. Mount the current sir coil assembly onto the Steering Shaft assembly by properly aligning it as the opening matches with the horn tower and locating bump is between the 2 tabs of the lock housing cover; and sleeve assembly and installing the assembly sitting in the Steering Shaft assembly. In case a new coil assembly is needed, assembly pre-centered coil assembly onto the Steering Shaft assembly making sure to align properly and remove and dispose of the centering tab. Install the retaining ring onto the Steering Shaft assembly making sure the electrical wiring is guided without an electrical hazard. Finally, install the wiring protector and the wire harness straps to the steering column, then the Steering Wheel, and then the air bag clock spring, and activate the sir system.
