How to replace the tailgate latch on the end gate of a coupe on 2002 Chevrolet Camaro?

In order to take on the tailgate latch of a couple, one has to open the window panel and take off the rear compartment trim. Dislodge the electrical connectors, loosen the endgate latch bolts and remove the latch. Install the new latch, make the bolts, reinstate the electrical connectors and replace the trim.
