  A: The start of Oil Pan replacement begins with vehicle elevation and removal of right front tire and wheel assembly followed by right engine splash shield removal. Empty the engine oil from your vehicle before disassembling the Starter which you will place somewhere safe. First remove the engine mount strut bracket while following it with the Oil Pan bolts and nuts before finally taking off the Oil Pan. Clear and clean all sealing surfaces from the pan as well as the cylinder case and front cover while removing all old rtv residue from the blind attaching holes. To install the Oil Pan use a 2-mm diameter bead of gm p/n 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472) 23 loctite 5900 or equivalent on the Oil Pan sealing surface while avoiding the rear seal mounting surface. Apply gm p/n 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472) loctite 5900 or equivalent to the Oil Pan sealing surface of the ends down to the ears before installing the new Oil Pan rear seal. Before finalizing installation, tighten first the Oil Pan bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) then proceed to tighten the Oil Pan nuts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Install all of the following parts starting from the engine mount strut bracket then the Starter and right engine splash shield and right front tire and wheel assembly. Place the vehicle in its lowest position before adding engine oil to the crankcase.
