How to Replace Rear Brake Calipers on 2002 Chevrolet Corvette?

To replace the rear brake caliper firstly check the level of fluid in brake master cylinder reservoir; if it is half way between the max full and the min allowable, there is no need to remove fluid but if it is above, bring it to half way. Lift up the vehicle and pull the tire and wheel assembly off. Next, loosen the brake caliper inlet fitting bolt from the caliper and remove the brake hose, dispose two copper brake hose gaskets, which might have become attached to either the caliper or the hose end. Plug the holes in the brake caliper and tube to avoid the loss and contamination of the fluid, then unbolt the brake caliper guide pin bolts and remove the brake caliper from the mounting bracket. Check the caliper slide boots at the caliper slides by inspecting them for damage. If necessary, replace them. Reinstall the brake caliper onto the mounting bracket making sure that you tighten the guide pins bolts down to 31 nm (23 ft. Lbs.). Pull the plugs out of the brake caliper opening and hose, and install new copper brake hose gaskets together with the brake caliper inlet fitting bolt to the brake hose and tighten it to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Bleed the brake system, the hydraulic system, reinstall the tire and wheel assembly, and lower the vehicle.
