2002 Chevrolet Express 2500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the A/C Accumulator (C69) on 2002 Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: The first step in replacing the A/C Accumulator is to recover all refrigerant from the system. The vehicle should lose its evaporator tube while maintaining its nuts and ferrules intact on the tube. The replacement of the A/C Accumulator starts with taking off the nuts at its location followed by removing the A/C Accumulator from the evaporator tube. The evaporator tube receives application of 525 viscosity refrigerant oil before installing new o-rings onto it. Affix the A/C Accumulator to the evaporator tube with the flow arrow facing towards the evaporator before tightening the nuts on the A/C Accumulator to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Reposition the evaporator tube into the vehicle before refilling the a/c system and leak checking the repaired components with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). The installation process includes refitting both the grille and the engine Coolant Reservoir as well as the air cleaner.
