How to replace the Dipstick Tube on 2002 Chevrolet Express 2500?

Start by removing the engine cover and the bolt that retains the coolant recovery reservoir which should be set aside. The first step involves removing the oil level indicator along with its screw that prevents movement between the oil level indicator and the transmission fluid fill tube from its position on the oil fill tube lower support. Remove the top section of the oil level indicator tube from its bottom part before cleaning away the old sealer from both pieces. To remove the oil level indicator tube bolt the tube should be extracted from the engine by twisting it while also cleaning both the engine block and oil indicator tube of previous sealer residue. First apply gm p/n 12346004 sealant equivalent or similar to the bottom side of the oil level indicator tube bead then position the tube inside the engine block while rotating it into its final place. The sealer needs to be applied to the junction where lower and upper oil level indicator tubes join before attaching these sections together. The bolt attaching the oil level indicator tube and transmission fluid fill tube to the oil fill tube lower support requires tightening it to 5 nm (44 inch lbs.). Finish by putting back the oil level indicator followed by the engine cover and cooling reservoir which needs to be secured with a bolt.
