  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Automatic Transmission Filter on 2002 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Start fluid filter for automatic transmission service and repair by first taking out the transaxle oil pan followed by the Oil Filter whose neck should be pried out using a long screwdriver from the seal. Use the slide hammer (J 6125-1B) together with the axle boot remover (J 23129) to remove the seal if damage on the Oil Filter seal is present. Seals should be treated with a tiny amount of petroleum jelly (J 36850) before installation into their position. The oil pan replacement process requires install of a fresh filter into the case followed by reinstalling the transaxle oil pan.
