2003 Chevrolet Malibu Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Automatic Transmission Filter on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Starting the automatic transmission fluid filter servicing process requires you to extract the transaxle oil pan first. The Oil Filter must be removed using a long screwdriver on the filter neck until it disengages the seal after which you should inspect the Oil Filter seal for signs of deterioration. The j 6125-1b (Slide Hammer) in combination with j 23129 (Axle Boot Remover) should be used to remove the seal when necessary. Apply j 36850 petroleum jelly on the new seal before putting it into its position. The new filter must be installed inside the case before reattaching the transaxle oil pan.
