How to service the knock sensor on 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

You must disable ignition power before you can lift the car through appropriate restraining systems. First unplug the wiring harness connector from the KS before extracting the KS out of the engine block. Installation of the new KS should avoid any thread sealant on sensor threads since they come factory pre-coated and extra sealant can reduce detonation detection capability. Fasten the new KS into the engine block while applying 19 N.m of torque (14 lb ft). Lower the vehicle while connecting the KS wiring harness connector to the KS.
