• Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2002 Chevrolet Prizm?

  A: In order to replace the Starter motor, one needs to disconnect the (-) negative Battery Cable. Mountain the upper bolting down, raise and sustain the vehicle, then take off the 6 bolting in addition to right side splash shelter. To remove the Starter motor, disconnect the Starter motor electrical connector, remove the retaining nut and the positive (+) Battery Cable from the Starter Solenoid, and also take out the lower mounting bolt so as to disengage the Starter motor from the vehicle. For installation, set the Starter motor and fit the lower bolt of mounting finger tight. Lower the vehicle without dropping it from the hoist, install the upper mounting bolt and tighten it to 37 n.m (27 lb ft). Rear the vehicle up again and tighten the lower mounting bolt to 37 n.m (27 lb ft). Reconnect the Starter motor electricity connector and connect the positive Battery Cable and the retaining nut to the Starter Solenoid before tighten the retaining nut to 8.8 n.m (78 lb in). Reinstall the right side splash shield and fasten it using the 6 bolts and lower the vehicle and connect the negative (-) cable of the battery and tighten it to 15 n.m (11 lb ft).
