    Q:
How to replace the starter motor on Chevrolet Prizm? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin by disconnecting the negative (-) Battery Cable before you start to replace the Starter motor. Start by using a wrench to remove the bolt in the Starter mounting bracket then lift and stabilize the automobile. Begin by removing the right side splash shield while you also remove the six bolts from their mounting places. Then disconnect the Starter motor electrical connector. To extract the Starter motor begin by removing the retaining nut and positive (+) cable from the solenoid before taking out the lower mounting bolt. Begin Starter motor installation by placing the motor in position while securing its lower mounting bolt just tight enough. Position the vehicle so it stands from the hoist before installing the upper mounting bolt which needs tightening to 37 n.m (27 lb ft). With the vehicle still elevated raise it to complete the lower mounting bolt tightening process to 37 n.m (27 lb ft). First connect the Starter motor electrical connector before using a 8.8 n.m (78 lb in) torque wrench to tighten the retaining nut on the Starter Solenoid and the positive Battery Cable installation. After bolt installation on the right side splash shield, lower the vehicle while using a torque wrench to fasten the negative (-) Battery Cable to 15 n.m (11 lb ft).
