How to replace the automatic transmission shift cable on 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Set steering-column shift lever to park and raise vehicle. With transmission manual shaft in mechanical park, remove cable end from selector lever, discard E-clip, open connector, detach cable from bracket and clips. Install new rear cable half, secure bracket, fit retainer, install E-clip, reconnect cable, compress spring, lock, lower vehicle and verify gear operation.
