How to service and repair the rear door check on 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

To service and repair the rear door check, start at removing door trim panel as well as front half of water deflector to gain access to the door access hole. Next, remove the 2 bolts which hold the check link to the pillar and thereafter remove the rubber dust boot off the check link to gain access to the door retaining nuts. Slacken the 2 check link retaining nuts, remove the nuts, and draw out the check link assembly through the hole in the door. Installation, insert the check link assembly again to the door access hole with the position arrow pointing forward. Fasten the 2 check link retaining nuts to the door using a torque of 7 N.m (62 lb in). Reattach the rubber dust boot to the check link, followed by the 2 bolts that fix the check link to the pillar, tighten to 15 N.m (11 lb ft). Lastly, reinstall and seat down the water deflector and door trim panel.
